John Wootton (Jack)
Passed away peacefully at home on Friday 30th May at 3:40am surrounded by family. Aged 80, Jack had
battled cancer for 3 years and stayed positive throughout. Jack was an ex miner at Silverwood
colliery. He lived in Sunnyside and leave his wife Dot, sons John, Kev & Paul. Daughters Wendy,
Yvonne & Teresa. Numerous Grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is reunited with son Barry.

Died of bowel cancer, with liver secondary.

What can I say about my dad?
He was everything. His humour and courage knew no bounds. He was dedicated to his family, especially
Dot. He was known as "silly Grandad" and the green chair in the corner is lonely without him

IF I DON'T SEE YOU THROUGH THE WEEK I'LL SEE YOU THROUGH THE WINDOW

RIP Dad.....I love you!

Mum followed dad on 2nd July 2008 RIP mum and dad xxxx

Strange not to see you at 12:00 with party hat and sreamers.
We did you proud and went out to the club (Bramley, not Sunnyside though)

Hi Dad
Missing you today, even looked for your car to pull up outside, no one to moan about "too many" toys
Have a good party dad

A friend wrote this for you dad!

Reflections of a Man

Where is that man so strong, yet gentle
Who loved to have his children near
That man so kind and loving
Yet a man his family would revere

Where is he who proud and tender
Held his grandchildren on his knee
And told them tales to make them laugh
Oh where is he

Where is he who cared for others’ children
Who taught them right for wrong
Who showed them love and understanding
Where has this man gone

Where is he who by example
Influenced the lives of many other
Who was a friend to everyone
And anyone could call him brother

Look not for him nor weep nor mourn
Remember all the happy days
The special thoughts each one holds dear
And memories of his life and ways

Ask not why he had to die
Remember him and be glad
For those who never met this man
Are the ones who should be sad

Happy Birthday Dad

What we would give if we could say
Happy Birthday dad in the same old way
To hear your voice, to see your smile
To sit with you and chat a while.

Those who have a dad
Cherish him with care
You won't know true heartache
Till you see his empty chair

Teresa (Daughter) September 16, 2008

I am so so sorry that I never got the chance to really know you and never came to say goodbye. I always thought that we had time. Now that time has gone I take comfort from knowing that you can now visit me and your great grandchildren any time you want. I am sure that you and Nan have had something to do with recent events and for that I will be eternally grateful. I hope that your proud of me. Rest in peace perfect peace and I'll see you when I get there. xxxx

No sooner after the night's rest
Or in the door
Did you start to dance a step
In the middle of the kitchen floor

And as you danced
You whistled
You made your own music
Always in tune with youself

I go beyond the old man
Mind and body broken
To find the unbroken man

It is that moment
before the dance begins
Your lips are enjoying themselves
Whistling an air

Whatever happens or cannot happen
In the time I have to spare
I see you dancing.
